There is so much good information here; I am going to read this a few more times.<br /><br />You are so right saying that we should be looking at cash flow instead of portfolio value. However, if your portfolio value goes down, it is difficult to feel good about it even with a decent cash flow. For example, let say your portfolio value is $100,000 and it goes down to $70,000. Your cash flow stays the same. If you need $100,000 for something, but now you don’t have $100,000 anymore. You sell everything and you only have $70,000.
